The Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) is ERS' insurance program. The type of GBP insurance, as well as other benefits available to employees/retirees and their survivors; the State Kids Insurance Program (SKIP); and COBRA.
Medical Plan and Prescription Drug Program - The GBP offers HealthSelect; a comprehensive health and prescription drug benefit.
Dental - There are two plans to choose from: Texas Dental ChoiceTM and the Aetna Dental HMO. Each has different costs, benefits, service areas and participating dentists.
Life and Disability (Optional) - One of the benefits of working for the State of Texas is knowing that you have options for coverage that can protect you and your loved ones in the event of an accident, disability or death.
Employee Assistance Program - The EAP is a confidential benefit, paid by the State, that includes short term assessments, counseling, prevention/education, crisis intervention, and referrals. Most employees experience periods in their lives that they find stressful or overwhelming. If you should experience depression or anxiety stemming from work, family, legal, financial, or health related problems, the EAP is here for you, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Long Term Care - Long-term care coverage can give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing you are prepared for the future.
COBRA - COBRA allows you and your eligible dependents to keep your health and dental coverage for a certain period of time after you leave employment.
State Kids Insurance Program - If you qualify for the State Kids Insurance Program (SKIP), you pay lower monthly premiums to cover your children under age 19.
Benefits for Survivors - Your survivors need to know what to do in the event of your death; you need peace of mind knowing the benefits they will have when that time comes.
